About Kate

Kate lives curiously and dreams big, writing plans into action at home and for her passion projects. She and her family live in a 675 square foot house nestled in a small Lake Michigan beach town. They gravitated toward this lifestyle as a means to practice simplicity and travel often, crisscrossing the U.S. seeking adventures and new horizons.

Kate is a humanities professor and a writer of both academic and lifestyle publications. She is also the co-founder of Cohesive Home, a community for families seeking to live intentionally and by their values. Kate is the co-host of the highly rated Cohesive Home Podcast, which tackles such topics as family adventures, minimalism, intentional parenting, simple home design, and homeschooling.

Kate is currently seeking publication of her first children’s chapter book, but in the meantime you can find her writings elsewhere. She’s been featured online in Wild + Free magazine, Momazine, and Family Trails Mix. You can also read her musings in print in her monthly “Parenthood Simplified” column for Metro Family OKC magazine.

You can reach her through the contact form or on Twitter or Instagram.
